Google launched today their brand new advertising option. Google TV Ads. Long story short this will allows smaller budget advertisers to put their ads on TV.

How does it work?

Ok, the thing is, first, you’ll need a TV commercial. If you don’t have one yet, you do have the Ad Creation Marketplace, where you can connect with professionals who provide script writing, editing, production, and voice-over. This is a fairly costy thing, since it’s not cheap to make an commercial. AS I can see from the intro video the prices ranges from $800-$25.000. The rule “you get what you pay for” does of course count here. The good thing is thought, to celebrate their launch, for a limited time Google will cover the cost of creating your TV ad through our Ad Creation Marketplace, up to $2,000.

What does it cost?

You pay based on a CPM price. Basically it will work the same way as you used to, where you have to get the highest bid for your ad to show. So if there are some popular spots the CPM bid will be higher then on less popular spots. In the video the ads have a CPM of $2-$4. Which means you pay $2 or $4 per 1000 people viewing your ad. Not bad if it’s possible to get TV spots for that price. I contacted a TV station here in Norway and they charged around $40 CPM. Of course it’s probably possible to get that price down, but still.

Watch a video domenstration the system.

So - let me know if any of you are running an TV ad!

The guy over at 45n5.com have yet again tried to figure out the ongoing price for make money blogs. From his calculation each subscriber you got is now worth $18.42.

So, to get the value of you blog you simply do as follows:

#Number of subscribers * $18.42 = The value of your blog

You might think this is too simple, and well, it is. But still, it’s an ok metode to figure out the value of make money blogs.

Where did he get the numbers from?

He basically checks every website selling sites out there, and if a make money blog are for sale, he watches it, and checks what the sale price is. The last month only 4 make money blogs have been sold, and they are as follows:

(image from 45n5.com)

As a note to the image above I can tell you that johncow.com are’t sold because the buyer wasen’t real. He basically flipped around after he won the auction and asked the owner of johncow.com to sell it to him for $35k instead. Something the owner of course didn’t want to. So a long story short, the blog haven’t been sold. Yet.

This makes the avrage price per subscriber a lot less, and without the sale of johncow.com the avreage value of an subscriber is $14.14.

So, would i sell this blog for $1.5k? I would actually have had to think about it, since I got so much to do, but probably I wouldent. The amount of time I have used on it, and the amount of money. I think we are up to $700+ only in advertising. $1.5k would just not covered it, and since I’m not in the need of quick money it wouldn’t have been a smart move of me.

How much is your blog worth?

So, then I finally pushed the button, and the blog is now 2.5. I have actually updated a couple minor blogs that I run, so I’m already fairly familiar with the new admin interface, and I must say, I’m impressed!

Anyway, this post wasn’t meant for just a “Hey, I have upgraded the blog”- post. The metode I use to update the blog is actually a little gem, that I don’t think all knows about. It literary took me 1 min to do the update, and It only required 1 click.

I am using a plugin called Wordpress Automatic upgrade. This plugin makes the whole upgrading thing like a dream, the only thing you need to do is push the button, and the plugin handles everything else.

The plugin does the following:

Backs up the files and makes available a link to download it.

Backs up the database and makes available a link to download it.

Downloads the latest files from http://wordpress.org/latest.zip and unzips it.

Puts the site in maintenance mode.

De-activates all active plugins and remembers it.

Upgrades wordpress files.

Gives you a link that will open in a new window to upgrade installation.

Re-activates the plugins.

And it’s all automatic, you can make yourself a sandwich with beef and tomato in the mean while. Well, you can’t, because the upgrade will be over before you can say “Honey, make me a….”

When it comes to the last point it diden’t do that for me, but thats no biggie. I used maybe 30 sec to reactivate all the plugins I use, and it looks like the blog are running fine now.

Enjoy!

This is really a cool improvement on Adsense from Google. As you might already know, people using Adwords to advertise can target spesific sites where they want to advertise.
This is really a cool improvement on Adsense from Google. As you might already know, people using Adwords to advertise can target spesific sites where they want to advertise. Before you didn’t know if you had any advertiser targeting your site, and even more important, you didn’t have any authority to disable/enable such ads. This have changed.

Introducing the Ad Review Center.

The Ad Review Center is a new publisher tool which enables you to allow or block specific placement-targeted ads, giving you more transparency and control over the placement-targeted ads appearing on your sites. You can choose to allow or block individual ad groups and advertisers, as well as filter ads by type.

As you can se on the image above, you can hold ads for 24 hours so you can review them befor they go live. If you don’t review them within 24 hours though, they will go live.

I think the new review center is a great improvement on Adsense, and it will be cool to see if anyone is targeting any of my sites.

Remember, the more ads you disable, the less money you might earn.

What do you think?

As far as traffic goes, I don’t have any numbers to brag about. Since I don’t update regularly, or try to get new visitors to the site, the numbers aren’t going up. The last 20 days almost 1.600 people have visited the blog. Not bad, but not good either.

The RSS subscriber numbers have actually keept itself quite nicely around the 80-ich. As you can see on the chart below the numbers tends to go a bit down, but nothing to be afraid of. It’s good to see that you guys aren’t jumping over board!

Every sunday I used to post my stats. Heres an quick update how it looks now:

Technorati: 68,532 (126,758)
RSS readers: 80 (60)

As you can see the numbers have actually gotten better, so if we look one month back the blog have actually been growing. (Not counting traffic)

So, is it worth it? Probably not, one of the ways he has got so many followers is by following many users himself. 1,395 of them to be correct. So, you could probably build such an account for a fairly cheaper price yourself. One method I can think of right now is buy hiring a guy on DP and tell him to log into your account and start following as many users as he can. This will for sure give you some followers.

Anyway, thumbs up for Andrew for being the first one selling is Twitter account. I have a feeling we will see some more accounts at eBay soon.

I guessed it had to be a bug, so I checked the marketplace, and saw some nice figures. The most expensive one costed 262144ec per day!

How much is the price for a spot on your blog at the moment? (Talking Entrecard here…)

Update 9. april 2008: It looks like it aren’t a bug, sort of. Since Entrecard is introducing a new pricing system these day, the price of ads are effected by that. Thanks for the guys commenting on this.
