Monday Mock-up Post

Sorry about the title. Don’t really have any fantasy right now. Well. I have been away from my computer since friday morning. The weekend have been used to meet up with the family, and celebrate my fathers birthday. Woho. It has been a pain without the computer, but I did have my “eee” with me. (Talk about that one in a later post).

The big comment project

If you are a fan of reading blogs and commenting on them, you have probably noticed a guy called “Danny Cooper”. He is everywhere, and if you have a decent blog in this niche chances are big that hes on your blog as well. Nothing wrong with that though. Thing is, Danny have a project going, called “October Case Study: Blog Commenting“.

Danny sent me an mail asking for a plug, so here you go. :) To sum up the plan Danny got he got a list of about 60 blogs which he are following each day. Each time someone makes a post he will leave a comment. He claims that he is not going to spam, but tell his honest opinion on the subject posted. This case study is going to all October. When October is over, he will make a report, where he disclose traffic, referrals, back links etc.

I think it’s a good approach to increase traffic/subscribers, and it will be fun to see the result. Check out Dannys blog here:

What about VikingBlogger?

Hopefully you have noticed that my posting frequents has increased by a lot lately. And to my joy a lot of you old guys still are hanging around, and are starting to make comments again. There is also a couple new faces. I would love to know more about my readers. So if you want to tell me and rest of the crowd more about yourself and your site(s) your welcome to do so below in a comment. :)

The top commentators

Once in a while I like to give something back to my commentators. One of the way I do that is by giving them a link. Well, it’s time to give the top 5 some love again. Here is the guys that have made the most comments on VikingBlogger so far in October.

Would You Leave a Comment And Link To VikingBlogger If You Got A Do-Follow Link?

I guess thats got to be the longest headline ever. Right? Anyway, the issue is simple really. I want the get the activity up on the blog. I think that one way to do that is to make VikingBlogger a do-follow blog. Since I can’t give any traffic back (the blog don’t have any:P) I guess a valid backlink would be worth it.

When you comment on a post, your name will link back to your site. This is now a no-follow link, so that only gains you some clicks. (if you are really lucky) and if you link to one of the posts here you will get listed as a trackback. Those links are also no-follow. What I’m thinking of is to make those links do-follow.

So, my question is; Would You Leave a Comment And Link To VikingBlogger If You Got A Do-Follow Link?

Woho, I Won A Shoemoney T-Shirt

Just checked my email, and guess who I got an email from. Shoemoney. Or, well, technically it was from Susan, but I guess she is working for him.

Dear VikingBlogger,

Congratulations! You are the randomly selected winner for your comments written on a shoemoney blog post on 2008-09-26. You have won a ShoeMoney t-Shirt and a chance at this months grand prize!

Each day Shoemoney draws one comment left on his blog, and sends the commentator a free t-shirt. They ship it for free anywhere in the world, so I guess a sweet shirt is heading my way in Norway. (Hey, that rimes..)

Link In The Header

The other cool thing about winning this draw is that Shoemoney places the last 4 winners in the header of his blog. The name is linking back to the winners blogs. So for 4 more days I got a free link on a premium location on Shoemoney.com. Cool. I wounder if it brings any clicks…

Have you won anything lately?

Comment Love, Some Stats and Ramblings

So, If you have been with me on this blog since the begining you all now it all started so well, but then in February/March it went downhill. I did not have enough time to write, and with less and less updates, the amount of visitors went down. But, I never gave up on the blog, and I haven’t yet either.

In todays post I thought I should share some love to the few people actually commented on my blog this month.

Check out their blogs. :)

Where are we now

So, you might wonder where this blog is now. Well, after a quick look in analytics I can report that It has been getting a steady 600-700 visits per month. It’s nothing to brag about, I know, but then again, I haven’t done anything to promote the blog, except writing a post or two each month.

RSS are going great

There are actually 83 people subscribed to the RSS feed, still with no updates. This tells me that there are actually someone out there that would like to read what i write. This is a big motivator, and I would love to break the 100 mark before Christmas. Help me achieve that, and subscribe to the blog!

Some thoughts

July, this summer I wrote a post telling you that VikingBlogger where going to do a comeback, as you might have noticed this haven’t happened, yet. I still want to grow this blog into something big, but it’s really hard to use much time on something that doesn’t give any cash in the pocket.

Anyway, who are still reading this blog? Leave a comment, and tell me/the world what you are up to these days.

So – whats up guys?

Long time no update – huh?

I can’t believe it’s almost two and a half month since I updated this blog. Time has just been flying away.

Anyway, I got some plans for this blog, but before i start writing again I will try to kick off a newsletter. So, all the coming updates will be sent out per email before they appear on this blog. If you are interested in what happening with me and VikingBlogger.com I urge you to sign up under

We Aren’t Dead Yet

So, i thought it could be cool with a little update regarding this blog again. As you already know I don’t have enough time to spend on it as I would like to, but it’s not dead yet. ;)

As far as traffic goes, I don’t have any numbers to brag about. Since I don’t update regularly, or try to get new visitors to the site, the numbers aren’t going up. The last 20 days almost 1.600 people have visited the blog. Not bad, but not good either.

analytics-vikingblogger.gif

The RSS subscriber numbers have actually keept itself quite nicely around the 80-ich. As you can see on the chart below the numbers tends to go a bit down, but nothing to be afraid of. It’s good to see that you guys aren’t jumping over board! ;)

Every sunday I used to post my stats. Heres an quick update how it looks now:

Authority: 117 (59)
RSS readers: 80 (60)

As you can see the numbers have actually gotten better, so if we look one month back the blog have actually been growing. :) (Not counting traffic)

So, there you have. Ohh, wait, maybe I should throw in some link love while we’re at it? Ok, here goes, the top commentators right now are:

Someone got a Couple Hours to Sell?

tidsklemmaHere I am, sitting in my bed with my laptop. Thought it would be a good thing to write a little post before I call it night. Most probably this will be a more personal post then before, hope you don’t mind. :)

When I started this blog, my goal was to keep it updated regularly, and post at least once a day. For about one month that worked out just fine, and I had more then enough time to write, and the ideas of topics kept coming.

If you have been with me from the start in January you might have noticed that I haven’t updated this blog so regularly the last week or two. Thing is, it takes time to make good content. A lot of time. And then I have to answer on emails, and try to market this site. It all takes time, and sadly it’s only 24 hours in a day.

Latly I have started up a couple of big new websites that needs my attention, and then this blog don’t get what it deserves. Anyway, I have tried to keep it updateded, but not as much as I would like. I just got to many things in the air at the same time atm. I need to take a couple of them down. (Just for the info, this blog is not one of them!)

Not only have I quit postpone my school, I have also got a day job, so then I have to focus and use time on that as well. I guess.

So, what happens to this blog then? Well. It will not be updated daily. Most probably I will try to post a couple times a week. I have also been thinking on video blogging. It would take a lot less work, and might be a good step to take this blog “to the next level”. Not sure about it yet though, just an idea I got.

How the blog goes

So, how does this blog go actually? It’s sunday, and I got some numbers for you.

(Last time in parentheses)
Alexa: 142,058 (215,825)
Technorati: 80,591 (126,758)
Authority: 86 (46)
RSS readers: 87 (60)

Alexa is climbing downwards to the 100k mark, but it takes sometime. Finally this blog is among the 100k top blogs according to Technorati. Currently with a rank of 80,591. When it comes to the RSS readers the blog will soon cross the line of 100 people. Right now it stays on 87, which are the top day.

Not looking so badly considering I haven’t been writing so much. The big contest is over, so the rss count might fall a bit the next days. I guess we have to wait and see. :)

Wellwell. Thats it for today. Now I got to get some sleep. Have a nice day/night, and remember to subscribe to this blog if you aren’t already!

VikingBlogger t-shirt has Arrived

vikingblogger-t-shirt.jpgIn my branding master plan I have gotten to the point where I get t-shirts an other stuff with the mascot featured on made. Today I received my first test package which included a t-shirt and two mouse mats. This was just to see how the quality was, and I’m impressed. It looks really professional.

T-shirt: I’m thinking on adding a “www.” infront of the adress on the back, and maybe adding a small version of the adress on the front of the shirt, just above the viking. What do you think?

Mousepads: I ordered two version, one with the URL, and one without. I think the one with the URL looks good, and are much more valuable when it comes to branding. I think I leave that as it is.vikingblogger-t-shirt-mouse-mat.png

Lots of vikings at my desk at the moment. :P

Close-up of the mousepad, the quality is actually quite good!

Back of the shirt. What do you think, I'm really unsure there.

Sunday numbers #4

Hmm, already Sunday number four since this blog started, and the stats are looking good. Growth on all places.

(Last week in parentheses)

  • Alexa: 519,368 (899,610)
  • Technorati: 283,266 (461,534)
  • Authority: 29 (18)
  • RSS readers: 43 (23)

Another week with good growth. What I’m happy to see is that the RSS Subscribers haven’t gone down after the contest was over. Its actually gone up, and now this blog have 43 subscribers. Great! With this speed the goals I set for February will be crushed! Alexa are still falling and now the average is just above 500k. I have noticed that 1 week avreage is under 100k! Sure, I have bought some advertising this month, so probably the rank will go up a bit when I stop advertising. :) When it comes to comments you guys rock. Just can’t complain over 100+ comments in a week. Keep them coming, there are relly some nice discussion going on.

So, there they are. The good ol’ numbers. With that done I checked my list of my goals for February, and saw that I should sell a 125×125 spot. Not sure why you haven’t bought on yet, but it will sure be worth your money. The last 2 days the one ad sold have gotten over 30 clicks! This means over 450 click/month which equals a CPC of $0.055. Sure that where the peek days, but I can guarantee 100 clicks per month. If your ad don’t get 100 clicks you will get full refund. This equals a CPC under $0.25 which aren’t bad in a niche like this. ;)

Order your spot today!
