I Got Some Traffic From The Google Chrome Buzz

Those of you that have visited this blog the last couple of days (me, and a couple others…) may have noticed that I wrote two articles about the realease of the new browser Google Chrome.

What I did in the first post was just copy/paste some of what Google wrote themself on their blog and then write a couple lines of my thoughts, and then stick a couple source links at the bottom.

What happend next was that I got a trackback on the Google blog, and that instantly sent some traffic my way. But the thing is, I started getting traffic from the search engines as well. So, VikingBlogger.com that aren’t worth ranking (no PR from google) got quite high in the serps for some good terms.

All this happened on 2. September. In total this blog got 271 uniques that day. (the blog gets about 20 uniques at a normal day)

Here are to top sources:
googleblog.blogspot.com bringing in 84 uniques
google.com bringing in 156 uniques

Here are the keywords people searched for:

google chrom bringing in 85 uniques
chrom browser bringing in 37 uniques

Bring me more

So, when I saw that this blog actually could bring in some good search traffic, I of course would try to get more. The post Download Google Chrome Browser was born the same day. Even before the actually download was available. My thought was that the post would rank better the earlier it was posted. I was wrong. The post did almost not get a single hit. Ok, It got around 50 views, but thats nothing compared to the first post that got almost 300 views.

Was the traffic any good?

The short answear is no. The long answer is also no. The traffic was shit. I didn’t earn a dime. (well that might be because I don’t have any ads…) and I did not get any new subscribers. The bounce rate was above 80% and the users where on the blog for under a minute. Viewing only 1.4 pages.

Wellwell, i was a fun ride.
