How to make money on ZIP-submits
In November 2007 i came across a post on WF which made me try out the ZIP-submit market. Basically on zip-submits offers your visitors only need to enter their zip-code to qualify as a lead. No need to enter personal info or something like that. Most offer pays anything between $1-$2. But i have come across some offers paying up to $3. The best company to get offers from is in my opinion RocketProfit. You could use this guide with email-submits as well, but I have not tested it.
Easy money you say? Well - yes it is. If you do it right that is.
Alright. Before i write my thoughts i give you a quick guide how to start up your campaign.
Quick guide
1. Register an account at RocketProfit.
2. Register an account at AdWords.
3. Log into your account at RocketProfit and find zip-submit offers.
4. Choose one offer that you think looks promissing.
5. Buy a cheap domain which covers the theme and put up the website.
6. Go to Adwords and start a new campaign and gather keywords in your theme.
7. Look at your stats and do changes where it is needed.
Alright. Thats 7 simple lines how to do this. Here comes the long description.
The idea
The whole idea is to make visitors believe that they are actually giving their opinion on a topic but instead they are being sent to a zip-submit offer and you earn cash! This topic could be anything, but its an advantage if it is in the news. I went for the presidential election.
How I did it
As i said i went with the presidential election and registered a nice domain. The reason that I choosed this topic was that i found a really nice offer on RocketProfit wich paid $1.55 per zip-submit and the offer landingpage contained a survey which said something like this: “Who will be the presidential frontrunner in 2008“.
On the site I asked the following question: “Is Hillary Clinton going to be the president of USA?“. With the option “yes” and “No”. Fairly easy question - and everybody can answer it. The buttons both link to the offer landingpage.
Under the yes and no buttons i write the following: Click “YES” or “NO” then enter your ZIP CODE to receive a $500 Visa gift card. The bold part is really important her, since this will make the visitor aware that they have to input their zip-code on the next page.
Bring me the traffic
I then added an image of Hillary and some Wikipedia text under it. Alright - our site is up. Now its time to send some traffic to it. I used Adwords to do this since i know their program the best and that all other PPC programs sucks. (*couch*Yahoo…*couch*)
I started a new campaign and wrote myself a nice little ad:

I added the question in my ad since then only people wanting to answer the question will click on the ad. (mostly atleast) This will increase your CTR on your landing page. I did not spend alot of time writing many different ads - but it can be worth it.
Next you are going to choose the keywords. Just scarpe alot of keywords from the web and the Adwords program will also suggest a lot of keywords. Try to keep them on the subject. Don’t put your CPC to high. Since you are only going to get about $1.50 for each person that submits their zip you have to be careful. I sat my maximum bid to $0.10. Which meant that 1 of 15 clicks had to convert for me to make a profit.
We are all done
When you have done all this your campaign is ready and you can start it of. Now comes the most interesting part. Will your campaign convert or not? Here you just have to check your stats and do minor changes to see if you can make a better ROI.
How it went with me
Firstly I have to say that most of my keywords got closed pretty fast because of bad QS and low CTR. But my ads kept rocking on the content network and that bringed most of the traffic.
AdWords
Clicks from AdWords: 1,660 (1,626 from the content network)
Cost per click: $0.075
Total cost: $124.50
RocketProfit
Total clicks to offer page: 952
Conversions: 149
Earnings: $230.95
Profit: $106.45
So - over half of the visitors clicked on one of the options and over 15% of those converted. Almost 9% of all my clicks from AdWords converted. Pretty good? It has to be said that i could have made even more since one of the offers closed down when I was on a weekend trip to London and every click that I sent could not convert. I think it was around 3-400 clicks. So - keep an eye on your offers and make sure they are still active.
I have not spend a lot of time with PPC and affiliate and this was a good experience. Most probably I will not keep doing it - since i think its alot more fun making money with ads on “normal” websites.

Update: After writing this post i found out about Geoff that runs the site Can’t Get Rich have written an eBook on the subject which talks about it in details. Its worth a look.
Update2: Picxx asked how long i used to earn those $100. I checked my analytics stats and saw that I pushed traffic to the site for 24 days. But I did only use about 1-2 hours setting the campaign up. After that it lived it own life.

The thing is, I was really cautious and diden’t do it for the money but rather the experience. But if I where in it for the money I would have tried to make a new campaign each day and then ended up with a lot of different sites. But since this would take a lot of time, I decided to don’t do it. But in my honest belief I think its possible to earn a decent cash of this strategy.
On the best day this is how my site converted:
| Clicks | Conversions | Commission |
| 73 | 23 | $35.64 |
And here are the stats from adwords the same day:
97 clicks
CPC: $0.085
Total: $8.23

Great post
However, you never said anything about the timeline for those 100 bucks profit.
That would be nice if you could share that with us as well

Hehe - you got me!
Well, the thing is, as I was just testing this out, it took a little longer then it have to. Since I was really cautious.
I checked my analytics stats and saw that i pushed adwords traffic to the site for 24 days. I updated the post a little:)

Hi
sounds like a great idea!
what I dont get though, is that when you sign up for rocket profit, you need a website, yet you dont have that without the opportunity. I just put one of my other websites though
[Reply]
Harry: Yes, its correct that you need a website. What i did was to fill in one of my other sites, then i got a mail from them asking how I where going to promote them.

Nice method man - I first read it over at Geoffs blog but it’s good to see others having success.
I’ve done semi-decent too - so far $1 spent, $5 earned. Plenty of time left

This was a good post! Both guide and numbers… Love it!
The only thing I misse is how much time you spent on this campaign .
Time = money

MillionEuroMan: After a comment from picxx I updateded the post with time frame.
Summary; I used 1-2 hours setting the campaign up, and then I diden’t touch it for 24 days. Then shutting it down.

Awesome post, no one could have had better explained the Zip Offers.

Who knew I’d find such a cool blog from a Bidvertiser ad? lol.
Anyway, this is great advice. I assume that those of us who don’t like Adwords could use a similar approach with another ad provider.

Caren: hehe, good to see that the advertising works!
You could absolutely use other advertising programs, but i think search traffic would get the best ROI.
Let me know if anyone got some tips!

Hey I was wondering how big your keyword list was to get these results.
[Reply]
Not big at all. I think about 100-200 words maybe.

Hi,
You haven’t specify how long would it take for you to reach that 100 dollar mark. Anyhow, this is an interesting post.
[Reply]
Sure I have. two times here in the comments and in the post itself as an update.

Looks like I’m 7 months late but great post. I was just over at Warriors Forum for the first time and googleg zip submit because I had no idea what it was about and landed on your site. You explained it excellently.
