5 tips for blogging - my thougts
A guest post at John Chow’s blog today by Steven York was kinda interesting. The theme was 5 tips which should help you write with confidence. Problogger replayed with a post on his blog, and he didn’t agree with everything. I will ad my comments as a new blogger.
#1 - Don’t Ever Talk About Being Dugg/Reddited/Stumbled
If I’m so lucky that i get one of my posts on the front page of Digg, or get a lot of hits from Stumbleupon I’ll sure as hell let you know. And I’ll tell you what - I will even disclose the quality of the traffic, how much I earned from it etc.
#2 - Don’t Disclose Failure Unless It’s To Make a Point
As a new blogger I’m not perfect. I will fail - probably a lot. And i will let you know about it, and I will learn from it, and with disclosing it hopefully you will not make the same mistakes.
#3 - Shout About Your Successes
Ok, can’t disacree with that one. If i have success you will know! Trust me;)
#4 - Write with Authority
Sure thing, thats important no doubt. But as a fresh blogger I really don’t consider me as a professional. But - I am trying to stick with the stuff i know, and if there is something I don’t know, I might write a post asking my readers for help.
#5 - You Don’t Need To Tell The Truth All The Time
I will not lie. Thats a promise! Sure - you can write about something that you don’t have first hand experience with, but to make quality content I think its important to have first hand experience with it.
Allright. That my thoughts. Whats yours?

#1 - Don’t Ever Talk About Being Dugg/Reddited/Stumbled
If you are so lucky to get on the front page of digg, be sure that you are hosted at a reliable host, and on a dedicated server
#2 - Don’t Disclose Failure Unless It’s To Make a Point
Those who are ambitious and will be successful will allso fall, and learn from it. Why not share what you learnt, both why you failed and how you get back on youre feet? Those that never will make success will neither never fall, cuz they just haven’t started to walk yet
#3 - Shout About Your Successes
It’s ok to let other know how you made youre site/blog/whatever a success, but to brag about it is just plain stupid.
#4 - Write with Authority
Agree..
#5 - You Don’t Need To Tell The Truth All The Time
It’s internet, it all depend on how many sites you operate, how many pseuydonyms you work under and if, in the end, you can tell them apart. I sure will laugh if you one day start to write poems here, and hardcore sale tricks on youre poem blog…
When it comes to point 3 i have a fast comment;
If I’m having success I will tell others about it, AND tell them HOW I made it.
Bragging and educational writing is two different things
